Photography: My First Time With Adrianne Bottrell

This set of photos is from 2006 and was the first time I shot with a model.

Adrianne Bottrell is a talented writer, actress and model who I met while enrolled in a life drawing class. Free spirited, natural, and intelligent is how I would describe her. I knew she was the perfect model for the project that I was working on at the time. We spoke only briefly before and after the shoot. Ever conversation we had inspired me to improve and excel both as an artist and as a person. She is a true original with the most beautiful soul.

I was clueless as to what the protocol was when shooting with a model. I shot and secretly prayed that the photos would turn out decent. I was unaware that a the role of the photographer was more than just taking photos. I didn’t know a photographer must be personable, enthusiastic, and provide direction in order for the model to feel comfortable and shine. Yet, Adrianne was a professional and rose to the occasion. To this day, I am still very happy with how the photos turned out and am thankful for the opportunity to shoot with Ms. Bottrell.

My favorite shot from the set.
